Started Pullets
Our pasture-raised chickens are grown the slow, natural way — with plenty of space, sunshine, and care from day one. Moved daily to fresh pasture and fed a high-quality grain ration, these birds live a good life, and that quality shines through in flavor, texture, and nutrition.
Humanely raised and processed with respect, our birds are never given hormones or unnecessary antibiotics, and they're handled calmly at every stage to minimize stress.

At Wing & Wool, we consider our eggs-free range. From the moment our chickens are old enough to venture into the grass, they consistently have access to spacious green pastures. Our chickens love pecking through the grass for bugs and snacking on wild plants.

Why farm fresh eggs?
Free-range eggs are better for you! Many studies have found that pasture-raised eggs are nutritionally superior to traditional commercial eggs, having less cholesterol and saturated fat, as well as more vitamin A, omega-3, vitamin E, and beta carotene. Not to mention, store-bought eggs are typically MONTHS old by the time they reach the consumer.

Treatment of our chickens
Sustainability and humane treatment of our chickens is important to us, you will find that we do not seek out unnaturally huge eggs that are risky for our chickens to lay and we allow them to take a break all winter long by not offering artificial light. These two steps make sure that our chickens live long, productive lives. Most commercial egg-laying chickens only live until the age of 2! Our chickens far surpass that.

Egg types and colors
Our eggs are hand-collected and packaged daily. As a result, they are not graded and will vary in size, typically around commercially known "large" or grade A eggs. We offer traditional brown eggs, but also greens and blues that are not seen in the supermarket. The color of the egg is dependent on the breed of chicken that is laid. We can tell apart each egg that is laid by each one of our chickens by color or shape. We do not have a rooster on site, you will never receive fertilized eggs.
Looking to start your own backyard flock without the brooder mess? Our started pullets are the perfect solution. These are young hens we’ve raised by hand from day-old chicks, and they’re typically 8 to 16 weeks old — old enough to be off heat and well on their way to laying.
We usually offer pullets in spring and fall, with breeds varying by season. You'll find a mix of reliable layers, colorful egg producers, and gentle personalities — all chosen for small flocks and homestead success.
What sets our pullets apart:
-
Hand-raised and fed daily for calm, people-friendly birds
-
Pasture access and fresh air from an early age
-
Well-socialized with other birds and used to farm life
-
Raised with love, without unnecessary antibiotics or hormones
Our pullets are healthy, vibrant, and ready to thrive in your coop. Whether you're new to chickens or just adding a few more layers, we're happy to help match you with the right breeds for your goals.
